My 2004...

New Year's Eve, to many it marks the impending beginning of the new year. But does anyone else what New year Eve aka Last day of a calendar year mean as well? A funeral...
Yup a funeral for the calendar that is going to be reduntant except for those that has very hot looking babes on it otherwise I do not really see the point in keeping it. Burn those with scenary! J/K!

2004 has passed by in a blink of an eye to me... Let me tell you why:

I began my attachment in end November 2003 and was supposed to go back to school for my Final Year Project in Mid February 2004. However my partner and I got ourselves to stayed on at the
company for our FYP and thus I basically did not spend much time in NYP. Early May came and that was where we presented our project and unofficially graduated. We continued staying on and work there as full time admin web developers till mid July. That was when I realised I had little civilian status left to my National Service.

Throughout my first half of the year, I met many people, learn more stuffs, completed SEX & THE CITY Season 1 - 6, earning diploma-like rate pay for the same amount of "workload" as I had during attachment which comprises of pretending to act busy. Took a trip to Redang with mates I met in Poly. Had helluva fun time playing mahjong in m'sian currency, banana boat rides. All this made time go faster.

Celebrated my 21st Birthday.(Nothing special cos to me special would have been to have someone to love)

After I had quit my job, I couldn't belived my luck when just in time, I won a free trip to KL to see The Rasmus Live @ KL Hard Rock Cafe. Got Nigel to go with me as he was the one who helped me in the FYP and staying on in the company. It was a 3 day 2 night trip, we had an excellent hotel room(Free), great clubbing time in KL, missed the A&W that used to be in Singapore, got to know people mainly journalists and other lucky ones who have won the trip as well. But as you know 3 days is fast and before you know it, it was over. Still it was a trip out of Singapore where I had quality lodgings and food FREE!

End of July, I was already running low on cash, god knows why, luckily thanks to Shaun, I got an ushering job at Raffles City for the IBM Forum 2004, $ was good about $270 for 3 days, all you need to do is stand there, help people who are lost, guiding people, opening doors once in a while.
The pay I got from the event got me surviving for until my enlistment.

August came, enlistment or rather the beginning of my slimming down program. Attended a 16 weeks BMT course and has so far lost 18kgs. Not bad! Hope it will hold it there or best I want it to go down another 15kg so I can be acceptable weight.

Went fieldcamps in September & October, life was pretty much boring in BMT. Booking out on weekends and spend the rest of the weekdays counting down towards the weekend and POP...
November became a lobo month or what I would call friendly month, joking around or rather crapping sessions with sergeants and sirs was 1 of the many ways we passed our time in BMT apart from the various exercises and since I'm in the drill team, practise drill for our games day.(Oh! Btw we(Echo) won the 21st Obese games day)

Before you knew it, it was December 2nd, passed out that day feeling tired after the 24km route march, not very motivated as I couldn't really have my loved ones to come see me passed out as a trained soldier. Had a somewhat last BMT Platoon gathering at a friends place before embarking to our respective vocation. Got posted as a Regimental Policeman at Paya Lebar Airbase.IMHO I loved the location not the job. Like many trainings I have heard from the different postings of my friends, it was really quite a culture shock compared to BMT, given a choice, I rather spent my 2 years 2 months of NS as a recruit in BMT.

Spent Xmas @ Shaun's place(steamboat), wasn't exactly how I expected my Xmas will be but like what I have said to NS, since I'm in NS might as well make do with it and do my best.

Currently into my week 3 of training, just got a NYE turnout whereby you got forcefully woken up to fall in FULL BATTLE ORDER within 5 mins which is rightfully, unachievable and is usually just a tekaning session for us all. Was Shocked @ the amount of massive deaths mother nature had presented to us on Boxing Day: Earthquake, Tsunami. Many nations worldwide mourn for the Southeast Asia countries affected. Year 2004 will definitely be a year remembered by the Boxing day present and the many minute of silence before the begining of the year 2005.

New Year Resolutions?

Propably not make anymore New Year Resolutions... But as you know what they say, resolutions are meant to be broken.

All the above, represents the searches what you might have search for in search engines both worldwide and locally. At least 50% of the above would be remembered by any as to what had happened with the world in 2004...

But, it is the words that come in very late in 2004 that everyone will surely remembered the year 2004 by... Tsunami, Killer Waves, Earthquake, Tidal Waves.

With that let's observe a minute of silence for the people who have lost their lives and for those who still could not be found.

Sucky NS Life for now...

Let's see being a trainee = no 5 day work week...
I shall brood on my lousy life i having now...
let's see approx. 5 hours + of sleeping...
9 showers shared by 96 person! (given about 30 mins every night to bath)
4 basins shared by 96 person! (a lot of us have decided to wake up around 4+ and brush teeth then go back to sleep and wake up just to rush down for falling in)
sucks right?
Not to mention no admin time
no place to rest
training keeps going up...
Being the first line of defense against the mosquitos...
All this and it is only just my lecture week...
I think it's going to get worse after xmas...
trust me on that...
HELP!!!
I need more sleep!

My posting....

I dunno to be happy or sad or angry...

One thing's for sure... I don't want to do guard duty my whole NS life...
However that's what I am assigned to... Regimental Policeman...

The only thing I can do now is to look on the bright side which is that it's better being an RP at airbases, naval bases than at army camps...
Another is I have to get myself fit (meaning more training) because it is a combat unit..
Air bases are known to have girls. Well better than army that is...
Haha

The bad point is however... I have to study military law( I tot I go NS no need to study liao for 2 years... now must use my brain again...) and learn nothing useful compared to the drivers and medics...

Oh well... life...

Anyway found this from an inspiration posters
3 things to learn in life when you make a mistake:
Admit it, Learn from it and Never do it again.

jh out!~
ps: I be staying in camp for i think 4 months from what I heard so probably blog on weekends again...

My BMT...

BMT....They say it's the most fun part of NS. (wait that means i am gone f**k considering I have already just passed through BMT...)What they didn't say was that it was fun reminiscing about but given a chance to go thru the whole process of BMT again, most will decide against it...that said, good luck to the 22nd Obese batch of Echo Company.... Enjoy your 26 weeks of recruit life...

Like many who have been thru BMT, buddies are a common word, so common that you have extra buddies namely the suck-co*k buddy, the self-proclaimed buddy, the assigned buddy, the buddy who you really hope will be your buddy, the gay buddy, the buddy who pretends to be your buddy so that he can go commanding school.

Well, once and for all, my buddy is just my assigned buddy, i wouldn't say he is the bestest guy you will ever meet(truth be told he is rather childish, act childish, many times i havecomplained he is too childish yet he is proud to admit it...) However, he does his job well as a buddy. All the extras like calling you up to remind you things to bring, smsing time to book inand even informs you when the Book-in Duty Instructor is counting strength or if the TIBS bus was leaving...
He is childish to the fact that my whole section complains about his singing in the bunk yet ignorant he is, sang on...

Well, there's just my buddy, I don't really have very close BMT mates in echo but am thankful to already know ziting in poly and yes I must admit it was nice to see him in my platoon.Being bed 1 or rather the first name on the platoon is quite stressful, the perks, well OC preset weapon to you... the downs, everything and i mean tests and all sorts of crap, i'm the clown from my platoon to do first...Some of my friends told me being bed 1 isn't good either, besides handling the job of a section I/C, chances of being a platoon I/C is there too, not to mention that however well you do or worse you do in whatever test, your grade(in the red booklet) will just be average... why? because you are bed 1... why the rest are better? because they see how you do and manipulate to either worsen or benefit themselves...

I hate to say this but as much as I don't want to chao keng in my BMT life, I still did. During my last few weeks that is...I have to admit that even during area cleaning I slacked a coupled of times, acting busy but not which is perhaps the skill I have brought forward from my attachment days.Still I did my best when I was doing area cleaning in the early weeks, so I guess it kinda balanced off although it's no excuse...I dunno I guess I lost my drive that pushed me up till week 13 of my BMT...possibly maybe the lost oppurtunity to lose more weight thru the echo sergeants or the impending "ideal" vocation for meIt could also be that the passed 13 weeks have finally hit me that I was probably the only idiot who has no girls to call to listen to the voices and sleep at night, and btw I brought him 2 spare batterys and guess what I did not even have to touch them, can even lend pple somemore...the only time I was busy sending msges was when I come online and when pple send me msg. and sometimes to make my precious weekend more happening in Singapore by jioing pple out...that sad... yes... piece of advice fellas: get girl phone numbers repeat after me GIRL PHONE NUMBERS so you can call to and talk to before lights out...

It could be the losing of a place I sleep in for the past 4 months and some of the nicest section mates I have and the worst.Nicknames were aplenty... there was a 5 tonner to begin with, an underwear man, a sweaty pear, a sausage lips nurse, the black one aka the Section Shortest Man, the sleepyhead who can sleep in all sorts of position, the superman, the budoh, the w o l s and r u l b combined together, the inverted nipples man, the almost nkf personnel and the CAT 1, yours truly...

That much said I must thank echo company sergeants for effectively making me lose at least 16kgs...Special thanks to 3rd Sergeant Koh(coincidentally also my sect comd), you really took it seriously when my best friend ask you to "look after" me.
Ask me if I am happy now?

"I'm just glad to POP and can't wait for my service balance to end..."

ps: posting tml... wish me good luck!

Excellent Sony Handycam Advertisement!

It takes 3 seconds to fall in love.. but 3 decades to get along..
It takes 3 centuries to preserve a tradition, but 3 minutes to embrace another.

About

My Photo
Name:
Location: Singapore

Not boring not exciting, not lazy not hardworking, not handsome not ugly, not short not thin, not a bad guy not quite mommy's boy either. Regular Singaporean guy who like most guys probably get several different colours of the same shirt, t-shirt, berms, jeans once they fall in love with a particular design. Been through the era of cassette tapes of walkmans to discmans(remember the anti-shock technology) as well as MiniDisc(coming out at a bad time) which obviously lost to the emergence of mp3s and the CD to LD which saw LD losing out to VCDs. Next came the DVDs which 0wned the vcds and try to act smart by having 2 groups, HD DVD and Blu Ray. 2 words BLU.RAY. Loves to reminisce the old days when A&W rootbear float was still around and KFC was still a restaurant complete with waiters serving you Kentucky Fried Chicken. The days where bus fares were 10 cents for students and pizza hut's lunch buffets. Moves/dances to the jumpy music of Ipod Ads and likes to laugh at the Hello I'm a Mac, Hello I'm a PC advertisements!
