Breaking news...

Not trying to be funny over here. But either Cave ins seem to be the latest trend these days or singapore is really under melee attacks by terrorists. Latest Cave in on a building in ayer rajah. One killed, 29 injured & 4 reported missing... Keep a lookout on news...

Responsibilties have already been shifted away. LTA has strongly emphasised that the latest cave-in has got nothing to do with the construction of the circle line. So I guess either our singapore soil is not only killing us, it's gonna break apart the earth and swallow us up soon...

what i promised.

yes, the blog... actually nothing much but movie review for 50 first dates will be up hopefully by tonight or tomorrow.

Got my miserable allowance of $300 today. haha. YES! $300 because I am doing my final year project instead of my attachment(attachment was $400) over here. Reason for $100 shortage is that i only work 4 days a week.. wednesdays is the day i go to report to my project supervisor in school... Speaking of which, I swear he is damm relaxed... out of my 12 weeks(now 11 weeks already!) of project duration. I have only seen it in total 3 times. The rest, god knows where he went. Din't even bother to tell me where he go. Waste my bloody time going to school. Oh well, @ least he remembered to give nigel(my partner) a msg telling us he's on leave.

I guess that leaves me with 1 more week of student life. Next week is our presentation, needa get our reports done and other craps like powerpoint... Work @ had kinda officially stop. We are now basically doing reports & watching movies... Wait a minute, I think it's erm watching movies all the way.. haha. OKOK, I'm running out of movies to download with their high speed connection. Suggestions are much appreciated.

God I feel so tired... after watching latest episode of charmed... yawnz, too bad I just can't seem to fall asleep @ work.

Time for history lessons...

Tom Weiling's (Clark Kent of Smallville) birthday is today.

1986: The world's worst nuclear disaster occurs at the Chernobyl' plant in the Soviet Union; hundreds of thousands are exposed to dangerous levels of radioactive debris.

Also linked to this event is the Chernobyl Virus which happened in 1999. Apparently it exists in the internet and was automatically downloaded into your computer on Apr26 1999. Computer users who had on their computers on that day had their coms crashing... before they even connect to the Internet.

Lastly, a minute silence to Mr Heng Yeow Peow. Even though we can't find you, what you did will forever be in our minds...

Good News? Bad News?

Alright scousers, Gloat at me if you want. Yes Bad news to me is My beloved team has lost. to Liverpool 1-0. Good news is IT DOESN'T MATTER! COS NEWCASTLE BEAT CHELSEA. So... We are back at Square 1 or Square 2... Square 2 being that All Arsenal need to do later is to avoid defeat to spurs... And they will be Champions for the EPL this season. Well, I have already surrendered the title since the middle of February. So I have nothing to care except that I feel that Man Utd should have deserved a draw yesterday @ least. All this 1-0 defeats towards Man Utd is frustrating, I just hope next season Man Utd will make a comeback since at least half of the treble winning squad in 98-99 season has changed to youngster like ronaldo, flectcher, kleberson, howard to those coming in form like V.NIstelrooy and Saha. Well, Gooners.. I mean Gunners, you guys have my respect in being undefeated this EPL season so far. But do bear in mind out of 4 occasions We have face/off (Charity Shield, EPL HOME & AWAY and FA CUP SEMI FINAL) Man utd was the better team so dun be too thick-skinned!

Well well, just into the 68th minute of Man Utd's match yesterday after they scored, my primary school friends asked me out to go eat chilli crab for SUPPER @ Bendemeer. The crab was not bad so was the MAN TOU.. haha. Although they kept saying that I was showing a "sad" face after I found out Man Utd eventually lost to the same scoreline... I'm sorry guys?! I guess optimism & hope do pay off sometime. And it did today, thanks to ALAN SHEARER & CO. Too bad ANFIELD, you guys need to curse & swear at every pther match of newcastle b4 you guys can be 4th!

AUTOMATIC QUALIFICATION : GO For It RED DEVILS!

The weekend....

It's Friday! Today seemed to pass by slowly... I dunno why.

Anyway, my productivity @ office today was only from 4.30pm - 5.30pm... Haha. Went home after work before meeting my dad & then go on to meet my sister. My sister wanted to go have dinner @ a restaurant and we ended up at TonKatsu at Shaw House.

Watched Enter The PHOENIX after ramen... @ Lido. It's a lousy cinema, Enter The Phoenix had only opened for like less than 2 weeks and it's already going to be closed soon. I guess they chose the wrong time to open that show.

Anyway the show is hilarious..., if you are feeling down, this show can brighten you up easily but first you ought to know what the show's about. Basically, it's about a long lost son(gay) who is supposed to take over as a triad's head after his father die. Although he wasn't willing to take over, his best friend who has always dream of being the boss didn't hesitate in standing in for him.

The show's Director, STEPHEN FUNG, happens to also be one of the leading men in the movie. Some famous Hongkong actors made a cameo appearance, e.g. Sammi Cheng & Jackie Chan(wants to help young actors start their directorial debut and therefore a major shareholder in the film. This movie is in a way a spoof to Infernal Affairs due to the funeral scenes and the black suits, it also spoofs a bit of matrix fighting(the soft touch fighting). The show was entertaining due to the lame jokes and the fact that it was really creative lame jokes...

Alrighty, the squeaky chairs aside, this cinema although small at least has got enough leg space for me. Too bad it's really such a small cinema.

Did I mention my sister paid for dinner? Though she doesn't give me $ except for the yearly bonuses. She always buys stuffs from me if she goes holidays. Even gets her BF to buy stuffs for me. Now where else can you find a sister? I guess everyone who has a sibling has in a way or another appreciate their siblings but still I wanna say!HURRAH for sis! You are the best!

PS: Weekend is here already... no plans so far except for maybe the BIG MATCH between MAN UTD & LIVERPOOL... boring.... Mahjong anyone?

Matured Adults......

Ok the title basically is to remind myself what I have heard from my lecturer-in-charge these few days... Keep saying that he treat us as mature adults unlike other students, I really wonder how does he treat them. Reported to him yesterday about our project & in the midst of it arrange a presentation of our project for him to see today.

He came in the morning at 10.30am and after our presentation of how our project will take over the old way. Although he says it is quite good but then the matured adults speech came again... Argh...

Watched Dawn of the Dead or AKA when there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth yesterday with shaun and kangren and another of shuan's friend. Ended up winning another pair yesterday morning thru different contests(One SMS one from a website) and called up shaun to bring a friend and kangren to join us. The show was made with violence but censorship from MDA reduces it to an NC16 film where obvious cuts from the film can be noticed easily... No review for that movie, because not really a fantastic or "BIG" movie.

Because of the censorship, it only deserve 2.5 out of 5. The Lousy chairs that make me sit uncomfortably and thus not able to enjoy the show contribute to the ratings too. Having long legs or being tall as what most people will say has its negative points too. Other negative thing about it was the maze to get to the cinema... The show was no longer a horrow movie after all the cuts seriously... and with none of the actors inside being known for other shows just indicate exactly why I don't consider the show to be "BIG". It somehow manages to pass due to the fact of some corny jokes which kept the audiences entertained, haha.

"Summer" season of movies is coming and I can't wait! Lotsa of Action/Adventures Movies coming our way! Woohoo.

2 more weeks...

Student for 2 more weeks. News of the first foreign University to open here come Feb 2007 was timely & welcomed. As I'm supposed to be done with my NS(ORD) then.

University of New South Wales(UNSW) will be based at Changi South near Changi Business Park will take up to a maximum of 15,000 students, of which at least 70 per cent will be international students and the rest from Singapore.

Half of the courses offered will be in science and engineering. It will also offer humanities and social sciences studies.

Had a presentation yesterday to the users of the project done by nigel & me. After much comments that we noted down, my boss came by and after being told some of the comments the users made were quite unreasonable. He agreed, wow... haha I was quite surprised but it is certainly quite true. The users seemed to think Nigel is like Bill Gates & me the other shareholder of Microsoft. Can do everything and anything.

I quote what my manager said: "If, everything follow what they say, then no need to hire them already lah. Do it automatically." Haha. Alrighty, tomorrow happened to be a Wednesday. No work! But need to report to school. Gonna be catching dawn of the dead as I had won free tix to the sneak preview tomorrow at Beach Road.

Go ahead envy me... =!

Shiok...

Yes! Shiok! My Feet is getting the foot reflexology thanks to the iTwin.. Heehee..

Didn't left house this weekend except for going up to my grandparents place for dinner today. Reason being couldn't find people to go out movie or mahjong. Hmph...

Quite sad right... Haiz, My beloved team lost to Porthsmouth only adds to my sadness.... Kudos to Pompey fans for getting behind their team, the atmosphere was great...They were cheering from the beginning to the end... Just shows how home fans can lift their teams up.

Thankfully, Chelsea drew with Everton which means Man Utd still got chance for the 2nd place in the league table(automatic qualification to Champions League!)All they have to do is to win all their remaining games! Please do!!!

Alrighty, I'm gonna go catch the latest episode of smallville which I downloaded from US (Season 3 of Smallville ending its run in US in about 4 episodes). Now currently downloading Charmed (season 6 ending soon in 4 episodes). I wonder why singapore is so slow, they can bring us American Idol and Survivor on same day telecast but not great TV shows like Smallville, Charmed, The O.C.Luckily, I got my sources to download from. Phewz...

Ok then, I'm off for more Lana Lang and Clark Kent after a long wait of a month. Reason being US were taking a break in the show and showing Re-Runs of smallville! Chaoz!

It's WEDNESDAY!~

YES! WEDNESDAY! Meaning also Midweek and also means must go school update my lecturer about our progress because rightfully now is Final Year Project Time we should really be in school but we got the company to keep us so here we are. Slept until 1.30pm today!

Soccer Time
Woohoo! Watched 1st half of the Man Utd match, was really really glad that Man Utd won even I wanted a goal fest. But at the end of the day 3 points goes to the winners no matter what the amount of goal was scored. This 3 points was essential in my beloved team of chasing 2nd spot which also means automatic qualification. With arsenal most likely to win the Premier League title, the RED DEVILS have to win all their remaining games to be assured 2nd spot thanks to Aston Villa who defeated Chelsea on Monday! The ONE goal that helped Man Utd secured the full 3 points in the bag came from a senior defender, Gary Neville who only has 5 goals in his CV. And it seems like each of this 5 goals came within the last 5 years so it's like a goal a year from him. Nevertheless, what an important goal!
Soccer talk ends here.

Went school to look for supervisor ard 4.10pm. Sorry nigel, I was late for like an hr? Hehee told him to go school at 3pm. Met some of my old poly classmates in school and had a short chat with them. My supervisor apparently went home early or something, I haven't seen him like 2 weeks already. Wonder did he sneak home or what. It was agreed at 4pm every wednesday to meet him. Maybe he should inform us next time? Making an hour trip to school is wasting my time, but the good part is I get to meet my PEM classmates. Hope they are coping well.

Next up, derek drove us to kovan to park his car at a "free" parking lot and we took the MRT down to PS to catch STARSKY & HUTCH. He didn't drive to PS because firstly you gotta pay the ERP and the parking charges which is quite expensive.

Had Long John Silver White Fish Platter for dinner after the show before heading home. Oops now is already 11.30pm! It is this day on 1912 at around 11.40am that the TITANIC hit an iceberg.

3 more weeks to being a civilian.

Yes.. 3 more weeks and I'm a civilian. My EZ-Link card will officially not be able to buy monthly concession stamps for both bus and mrt which I made full use and more of every month. I wonder how much I will spend once I have to pay my transport like all other adults. Would having a car be cheaper? I guess if you do know how to control your destination, you just need to pay a bit more than your usual transport fees as both patrol & parking. But you still need to have a car to begin with and that cost $.

Had a meeting with boss today, he wants to find out when we be done with the project. Nigel and I told him the basic stuffs should be readily functional by May 7th. Next he discussed with us that we have to be put thru an agency to be paid for our days as a civilian because we will not be under the company's headcount and therefore should anything happen to us no insurance... sounds good right? But I want to know around how much will I get paid! Anyway for past 1 week nigel and I have been slacking on the job. We go to work watching movies, playing games. Can afford to do so cos we were ahead of schedule! Woohoo all thanks to nigel and his NSC training.

Next, met Deborah and Fred for dinner today @ pastamania. Well Fred hasn't been there before so we decided on that place. After dinner, we walked around aimlessly for 10 mins. haha. finally we decided to go to a food place for a drink and chat more before it was time to go.

I'm sorry people.

People who left comments for me, I'm sorry, I accidentally delete the comments file where all the comments are kept... And I don't have a backup.

Good friday was passed with me enjoying a lesser work week. Good friday will also be the beginning of 4 public holiday I would get to enjoy before my NS kickstarts. Namely Labour day (on a saturday! What the hell!), Vesak day( either tuesday or wednesday) and National Day (monday). I seriously think that we just don't have enough holidays? Probably we should celebrate Independence Day July 4th as well. Reason being it's 2 days after my birthday and since America is always known as the country of freedom courtesy to the Statue of Liberty and Singapore happens to be independent too. Well we got a merlion?

I went benjamin's place and just slack at his place playing PS2... kinda sad right was looking to play mahjong but the usual 3 people but need 4 to play deny my habit of mahjong every weekend. Yes I understand 3 people can still play but I am still learning and I seriously think 4 people is more fun.

Saturday was spend doing the same thing going benjamin's place to slack. Our friends happen to either be in church or going to club. Somehow clubbing not in my blood. Haha. But it was a slacking long weekend I guess. Ben's mum prepared BBQ steamboat.. Woohoo. It was delicious. The beef, the salmon, the chicken, the prawns. I forgot to mentioned ben's father is hainanese and apparently hainanses are quite good cooks. No! They are not just famous for Chicken rice. There other things as well such as Hainanese Curry Rice and other things. Thanks for the dinner ben!

Sunday, met my dad for lunch then went to Taka to get some stuff from the supermarket mainly bottles of Green Tea, I simply love em. Went on to the OSIM showcase at the square for the online lucky draw contest... Guess what I won the biggest prize. haha, the iTwin... worth $588.. woah.. I was hoping the grand prize will be one of the massage chairs but I guess the iTwin will do just fine. The rest of the day was spent accidentally deleting important files to this BLOG.. Smart me... haha. Well I guess that's it. Once again I'm sorry people for deleting the precious comments u guys left for me!

Well you all can always leave another one!!!

The dawning of NS....

Having found out some of my friends had gotten their enlistment letter on saturday. I was all prepared and eager to recieve mine and voila it came yesterday evening. As according to my enlistment, i'm supposed to report on August 17th Tuesday. Which means I will be confined for 18 days... 2 weekends stay in camp before I can book out.

So people, as of now, from what I have calculated my first bookout date will be September 4 2004 saturday. Appointments/Bookings are welcomed. Autograph signing(1Hr) is being considered. Picture taking with an army hairstyle and hopefully a fitter body is to be charged @ $10(not negotiable because the SAF is paying me too little). Bookings for Sunday 5th September 2004 ard noontime is welcome too but do bear in mind I would have to book in around evening time. Thank you.

Back to what I did, had a pre birthday celebration for Hongwei yesterday @ Cafe Cartel PS. IT was weird celebrating a birthday on a Monday, but nonetheless it was still a celebration. We guys got her a bag from project shop as her billabong bag was kinda old. haha. I belive she likes it.

Tuesday, today! a boring day again at work. Planning how I can extend my stay at the company by doing useless stuff haha. Any ideas people? Yawnz... Time to sleep....

Wonderful Weekend.

It was one of the weekends where plans were made like 7 days ago. Met up with nigel, wenyao and nicole to go collect the bbq stuff from gen's condo for gen's surprise bbq party. yes without gen knowing. haha.

After that met up with my dad and had dinner before meeting up with the rest of my family for the cemetry visit. It's the period of Qing Ming where we pay our respects to our ancestors. While waiting at the cemetry for the rest to arrive, I went online on my gprs to keep in touch with the FA CUP SEMI FINAL Between Man Utd & Arsenal. Man utd won 1-0!

Back to point, some brief history about my family. This year cemetry visit was probably the first time I see all my uncles present. (My dad has 4 brothers and he's the 3rd one). Now usually, being the only male in my generation. I have to pay respect for my uncles to my grandpa and grandma if they didn't come, well this year... to each his own. haha!

Some brief History
Having never seen my grandpa before, I was told my grandpa was very seriously ill around MAY 1983. However, as my mum was pregnant with me then, grandpa somehow kept going. It was only after my first month then grandpa pass away in august 1983. I guess he really wanted to see his first grandson then. (First uncle had 5 daughters, yes they kept trying... 2nd uncle had 1 daughter. My father had my sister first. My 4th & 5th uncle was not married then. Well I guess my grandpa was happy to see me since he manage to kept going despite being ill in May.

5th uncle got married about 7-8 years ago. I was trilled when his wife was about to give birth. I thought I could finally have a male direct cousin but to no avail, it was a girl. Sianz... all my direct cousins are females and the age difference is quite a great deal. My eldest cousin is like 37 already.... my youngest cousin... only 14... liewz... well Iguess no point lamenting as I got my friends.
History ends here

Anyway, we ended around 11pm and gathered a while for some snacks before my dad send my sister home before sending me to nigel's place.Sorry gen for not being able to come earlier. The moment I reach frist thing was to try out some of the bbq food i instructed them to leave for me as i heard it was quite good. After eating, it was mahjong!!! Woohoo.. We played till morning manz 7.30am. den all had a short sleep before waking aroundam to go eat breakfast/lunch at WHATA FISH @ parkway. Great meal. After finishing, all of us left for home sweet home.Once again I had another mahjong session and had to sleep till sunday night to let my body catch up. But I really like mahjong!!! Haha

Not boring not exciting, not lazy not hardworking, not handsome not ugly, not short not thin, not a bad guy not quite mommy's boy either. Regular Singaporean guy who like most guys probably get several different colours of the same shirt, t-shirt, berms, jeans once they fall in love with a particular design. Been through the era of cassette tapes of walkmans to discmans(remember the anti-shock technology) as well as MiniDisc(coming out at a bad time) which obviously lost to the emergence of mp3s and the CD to LD which saw LD losing out to VCDs. Next came the DVDs which 0wned the vcds and try to act smart by having 2 groups, HD DVD and Blu Ray. 2 words BLU.RAY. Loves to reminisce the old days when A&W rootbear float was still around and KFC was still a restaurant complete with waiters serving you Kentucky Fried Chicken. The days where bus fares were 10 cents for students and pizza hut's lunch buffets.
