It's like that one...

Jiu shi ah neh
A quote to replace lan lan suck thumb made famous by my platoon sergeant... sadly, he was involved in a football accident (HIS teammate who is also my platoon mate slide his leg) which resulted in a leg injury that requires metal plates and screws operation, my platoon sergeant at this moment is enjoying life at home having got MC up to the 29th this month... Ask him how he feels about it? He says jiu shi ah neh...

Me? Well, I got results of my marksman badge shooting already...
We were given:
Day shoots : 16 rounds (Foxhole Supported 100m, Prone Unsupported 100m, Kneeling or Squatting 100m, Rundown 50m mark Standing Shoulder)
Night shoots : 12 rounds (Foxhole Supported 100m, Prone Unsupported 50m, Kneeling or Squatting 50m, Standing Shoulder 50m)

In order to get the marksmanship badge which comes with a one time only $200 bonus, one has to hit 22 out of the total 28 shots...
FYI, some guy from my company hit all 28...
As for me?

Day shoots:10
Night shoots: 11
Jiu shi ah neh...
1 shot missed and there goes my $200 and my badge...

To recap we were asked to do the day shoot first and knowing that one can only missed 6 shots, I thought I had blew my chances by the time the day shoot ended... because.... yes I missed exactly 6 shots. Thus, to earn the marksmanship badge, I must make sure I do not missed any at night, I was demoralised yet optimistic that I at least still got a chance for the marksmanship.

Night falls, we were asked to do the 50m shoots first, my confidence was boosted when I actually managed to hit all 9 shots for the 50m! That means 3 more shots to $200!!! However when we return to the waiting area to rest, my officer inform my detail that we might have to shoot one of the 50m position again as the result was not capture for the whole detail... My heart sank a bit but it was still under pending...

As my turn for the 100m mark night shoot began, my confidence level was way so high that I am sure if the girl I am fond of would to be in front of me, I would daringly instead of the usual shy self walk up to her and asked her to go out with me! And YES! I did hit all remaining 3 shots. Was happily making my way back to waiting area and proudly thinking of my marksmanship badge and how the $200 can come in handy for my Chinese New Year clothings when somebody shouted for my detail and then I knew it! The reshoot was for real... was asked to reshoot kneel or squatting 50m... we doubled our way there and me barely having enough time to catch my breath was asked to shoot my rounds... Did I mention my confidence went back all the way down to rock bottom at my realisation of having to reshoot? Haiz... Well, if you do the math, I hit only 2 out of 3 reshoots... and the one I missed was the 3rd one? Why oh why do you kick me down when I'm so high!

I'm accepting my fate (jiu shi ah neh ! wo mah boh bian ). At least I know I am really actually a marksman if not for the reshoot... (See! That's my optimistic me talking!) But... $200 fly away in front of my eyes just when I was literally bathing in it... (Sadly... that's the pessimistic me talking...)

Well the confidence boost feeling I had when I was going for marksman was way feelin' good! I really hope I can get this feeling again and hopefully the next time it comes it will be with the girl I like!

As you can see....

I really hasn't been updating... and I doubt I have the time to do so since I am on course... 5 1/2 days week and it's tiring whenever I book out... So much movies/celebrations/catchup to do not to mention surfing the net to keep myself slightly more updated...

I guess the next actual blog entry will be next week the Hari Raya Haji week that is provided I am not shag cannot think...

jh out!~

ps: Caught a lot of movies lately, Phantom of the Opera is good! Watch Aviator only if you really take Howard Hughes as your idol cause honestly that 3 hours show is quite boring most of the time... Kinsey was not too bad but yet another documentary film so I guess guys not much action flims to look out for until late spring at least...

About

Name:
Location: Singapore

Not boring not exciting, not lazy not hardworking, not handsome not ugly, not short not thin, not a bad guy not quite mommy's boy either. Regular Singaporean guy who like most guys probably get several different colours of the same shirt, t-shirt, berms, jeans once they fall in love with a particular design. Been through the era of cassette tapes of walkmans to discmans(remember the anti-shock technology) as well as MiniDisc(coming out at a bad time) which obviously lost to the emergence of mp3s and the CD to LD which saw LD losing out to VCDs. Next came the DVDs which 0wned the vcds and try to act smart by having 2 groups, HD DVD and Blu Ray. 2 words BLU.RAY. Loves to reminisce the old days when A&W rootbear float was still around and KFC was still a restaurant complete with waiters serving you Kentucky Fried Chicken. The days where bus fares were 10 cents for students and pizza hut's lunch buffets. Moves/dances to the jumpy music of Ipod Ads and likes to laugh at the Hello I'm a Mac, Hello I'm a PC advertisements!
