FieldCamp...... 2.....

Before I start, I would like to comlain about my wife.... yes, you heard it right... "MY WIFE"!!! The M16S1, is an extremely lousy weapon at least for now when I am undergoing training(I was told M16S1 rifle in units are much more new and cause little problems), still, I feel BMTC should offer me at least a rifle that can fire a few blanks at a go without me holding the rifle in an extremely awkward position when charging the enemy!Yes, I have to do a clearing of rifle or clocking after every shot fired... imagine my shock when I was handed 90 blanks to shoot.... Needless to say, there must be a reason why I am complaining about my wife..., well truth is I must misfired.... so I guess I gotta be doing another guard duty very soon.... You see my trusty wife had all a long not given me any problems when I went for my Live Range aka shooting real ammo! My sergeant explained that blanks cause later air pressure to pull back the handle and thus we require the use of a blank attachment(so that pressure can be trapped and thus firer need not clock weapon)... apparently for me and a few others even with the blank attachment we have to clock our weapon after every shot...

Here's a model of my wife.... taken from mindef website..

The COLT M16 is one of the most combat proven weapon systems in the world. The M16S1 rifle is a 5.56 mm calibre, lightweight gas operated shoulder weapon capable of semi-automatic and fully automatic. <--- sounds impressive? my foot! unless the army gives me a model that is not as old as my father I would not use my current wife to fight enemies!!!

Now back to my week in the island known as pulau tekong...WEdnesday was the first time I saw an ambulance chopper come to tekong. As they say, when you see an ambulance chopper at tekong, it's usually bad news... And yes indeed, we were told by our sergeants that a 5-tonne trunk had overturn and 2 person were seriously injured with face injuries, the driver though escape with minor injuries.. 7 others were attended at the island's very own medical centre...Anyway, just for your info, my company was the company that cleared the football posts off the field so that the chopper can land... yup... you know why... apparently the driver called up a number he found after the accident and hit my "E"asy company! Yup... so while many of us were swimming at the pool beside the field, the rest who were excused from swimming were told to carry the posts away...There you go...

Oops....

I realise up till now still no field camp.... part 2 update...
Sorry for digressing...

Fieldcamp part 2 begun on thursday and ended on friday evening...This part 2 was more tougher than we thought... Already on thursday morning, I could already sense a low morale going on in my platoon after being repeatedly punished for mistakes we commit whilst building our basha tents. In case you might not know, a low morale soldier is as good as a soldier who has surrendered...But then again, this is Basic Millitary Training, I'm sure a soldier morale will go up and down unpredictability.

Got punished for helping other people build their basha tents whilst my was only 90% complete... # note to self: Be selfish and Kiasu, cover your own ass before covering the others... STUPID ME! Care for other soldiers too much #Anyways Punishment was guard duty that night...

The 2 days camp consisted of revision and more lessons on our movement when contacted by enemy... and there was sort of a practical test on friday afternoon... It was tough and tiring! BUT it was what I was always wanting to learn, how does our military works when contacted by enemies. FYI, I am always one who likes to play strategic team gaming, I belive with a strategy, everyone will at least be prepared on what to do and how to response thus half the battle won. Strategies really got to me in such a way that I enjoyed the war-related-battle films for it is where you can see live strategy in action. # Note: I do not however enjoy the killing and sufferings of the soldiers #

Our practical test came, I was elected sect comm by my section mates. Was quite confident with myself on what to do at each kind of situation to be tested on but however am unsure of some of my section mates and worried that my muslim section mates might not take it.

Good news is everything went well, cept for my misfiring and thus I can see now in my crystal ball a regimental duty AKA known as guard duty...

Got back to my company to clean our rifle and sending arms while having our combat rations # Note to self: YEAH! I did not touch a single packet of combat rations! I survive by my unused fats in my body, biscuits and lots of water! #Finally bedtime! Sleeping in our bunk is really much better than out in the open singing with all the insects and clutching my "wife" tightly in case some nosey sergeants decide to steal my wife.

Lastly,

Weekend is relaxing, need lots of rest, hope I can be fighting fit per se for my SIT test this coming week. Oh yah which means I will only book out on saturday evening this coming weekend. Haiz, short short weekend....Caught 2046, an artistic show that has quite a good storyline although it was after my sis explained to me briefly to view the show as a jumbled jigsaw puzzle, I give it 3.8 out of 5 trains! # pun intended! #

jh out!~

Not boring not exciting, not lazy not hardworking, not handsome not ugly, not short not thin, not a bad guy not quite mommy's boy either. Regular Singaporean guy who like most guys probably get several different colours of the same shirt, t-shirt, berms, jeans once they fall in love with a particular design. Been through the era of cassette tapes of walkmans to discmans(remember the anti-shock technology) as well as MiniDisc(coming out at a bad time) which obviously lost to the emergence of mp3s and the CD to LD which saw LD losing out to VCDs. Next came the DVDs which 0wned the vcds and try to act smart by having 2 groups, HD DVD and Blu Ray. 2 words BLU.RAY. Loves to reminisce the old days when A&W rootbear float was still around and KFC was still a restaurant complete with waiters serving you Kentucky Fried Chicken. The days where bus fares were 10 cents for students and pizza hut's lunch buffets. Moves/dances to the jumpy music of Ipod Ads and likes to laugh at the Hello I'm a Mac, Hello I'm a PC advertisements!
